hand-carved custom signs
I make custom signs the old-fashioned way with only hand tools. I first make a paper template of any font or style and paste it to the wood. Then I use a variety of gouges, chisels, and knives and carefully carve each letter. Before removing the template, I paint the relief to make the letters pop. Finally, I hand plane the surface to remove the template and smooth the wood. These hand-carved surfaces have more life and detail to them compared to signs made with CNC automation. I’d be delighted to make a sign for you…just reach out with the wording, general style, and rough dimensions and I can provide a free quote for you.
